Hi guys - this is my first post on these forums, so I'll start by saying hello... Hello!
My question. As we all know, the Xtraview and Red Hot channels on Freeview are PIN protected, which you need to call the premium rate to get the code.
It would appear that the 'viewer number' on screen that is used to generate the code is simply a 7-digit number that increases by one every time someone selects the channel.
Therefore, when you call up and enter this code, all the system is doing is using this 7-digit code, and somehow using an algorythm of some sorts, turns it into the 4-digit PIN code that is required to unlock the channel for viewing.
I'm not one of the lucky ones with the Nokia box so that I can manually amend the PID numbers, so I'd like to know if anyone knows of a PIN generator or something like that?
Once the algorhythm is cracked, it will be a walk in the park.
I've had a go myself, but I am the least mathematical minded person in the world!
I've got the 'viewer ID' and also the PIN code that was generated from it as an example if anyone wants to try to get their head around it.
