Just got this box out of my loft but it has missed to many updates and wont take the latest one does anybody know if this can be fixed without desoldering the mem chips as i have the new software in .bin format but can't seem to find a way of getting the software onto the box

Try this

Press and hold the back up button on the receiver (not the one on the handset)
While holding down the back up button, switch the receiver off at the mains, then back on again.
After about 10 to 20 seconds all the lights on the front of the receiver will come on. You can now release the back up button.

Tride the forced update but it will not accept it as the sowtware on the box is to old i have the new software but have no idea how to get it flashed to the box
