Celtic manager Neil Lennon is facing a four-match ban while Rangers assistant Ally McCoist must miss two games.

The pair have been sanctioned after clashing at the end of the ill-tempered Scottish Cup fifth-round replay at Parkhead last Wednesday.

Lennon's punishment is more severe as he triggered an automatic touchline ban due to a previous charge of misconduct.

The SFA confirmed on Thursday that Lennon has again been charged with misconduct along with McCoist, who will succeed Walter Smith as Rangers manager in the summer.

Gers had Steven Whittaker and Madjid Bougherra sent off late in each half while El-Hadji Diouf was shown a red card after the final whistle.

And Bougherra and Diouf have been reported to the SFA's disciplinary committee for "misconduct of a significantly serious nature".

Celtic won the game 1-0 to book a quarter-final trip to Inverness on Sunday.

El Hadji Diouf and Madjid Bougherra have been summoned to appear before the Scottish Football Association's Disciplinary Committee following their red cards in the match against Celtic on March 2. In addition to the automatic suspensions incurred as a result of their dismissals, the pair have been reported for misconduct and could face further bans.

The SFA confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the players would be called to account, opening the possibility of further suspensions.

A statement released by the governing body said: "The Rangers players, El-Hadji Diouf and Madjid Bougherra, have been informed that they will be reported to the Disciplinary Committee for misconduct of a significantly serious nature. These will be considered at the committee’s next meeting, on April 12."

Both players, along with Steven Whittaker, were sent off by referee Calum Murray during their side's 1-0 defeat to Celtic.

Bougherra was shown two yellow cards during play but following the subsequent red he grabbed Murray's arm and tried to prevent him from showing his card.

Diouf was only shown one yellow card during open play but was shown a second yellow and a red on the final whistle as angry scenes were played out on the touchline. The Senegalese striker then walked the length of the park to throw his shirt to Rangers' supporters but was prevented from reaching the players by police and stewards before being ushered up the tunnel by Rangers coach Kenny McDowall.
