Well what can i say, anyone wanting to check how their pc is on the net should check this out " www.grc.com " and click on the "shields up" program to have your "ports probed", this downloads a small package to your p.c, and then the main proggie will try to access this from different ports on your pc, you will get a report to tell you wether it could access this package and from which ports, if this is the case then it also will provide free info on how to lock those ports (with a fire-wall), if all ports come back as "stealth" then you are probably using a software or hardware firewall, if not then you can download a free firewall (Zone-Alarm) and then test again. No system is ever 100% safe, but this should stop most "kids" who spend 10 minutes on certain sites and think they are fantastic hackers, any professional hacker is not interested in personal p.c's, they go for the big guys. Hope this helps our "newbies", regards Billy

Well said m8.
This is a very important issue which Newbies to the Internet should take a look at.
I should know, as I had a Trojan not too long ago.

There are some excellent tutorials available for free download at http://www.astalavista.com/

And you can download the Firewall's and Antivirus stuff at http://download.cnet.com/

Then just ask on here if you need the Serials.

I also read somewhere that Morpheous (a peer to peer ,file sharing site has security issues. Which are allowing these parasites access to files other than the designated ones.

So get that firewall up as soon as possible, and then get used to a bit of a slow down (thats another subject).

billyhl a mate of mine told me about GRC.com a wile ago (before i had zone alarm pro installed)

I ran the tests and oh my god i was amazed how open my machine was, the most open port belive it or not was my printer port(from what i read its the most common) since i installed zona alarm pro my machine comes up stealth to all ports and it says that it is very unusual for a machine to show total stealth but it means its very secure.

be safe all
