New plaster

Just to confirm what lots of others have said. Watered down emulsion for a couple of coats ( it dries really quick ) or watered down PVA. It shouldn't take any more than a few days for the plaster to dry out and you will see when it's dry as it will lighten unevenly. It's really easy to see. If you do use PVA to seal be absolutely certain the plaster is dry as the PVA will create a barrier on wet plaster and prevent it from drying.

She is still waiting out the obligatory 2 year bedding down period that needs to occur before I will hoover the stairs after the new carpet was laid.
 
the pva watered down is the way to go....
since am a pure ninja plasterer and go by the book all the time (not)
your actually supposed to leave it 6 months to allow settling to occur..
then if there are any cracks gunna show they can be sorted then u paint..

remember where yae heard this info the pure big mad mental ninja plasterer..

I think you are being a bit unfair if she wants to hoover it .. let her ... they like it, it will give here a sense of belonging, making here wait 2 years
