there are loads of outlets online,although i dont have any urls for these, also most local computer fairs have traders with these but you can expect to pay 25-35 quid. even the electronics trade counter i use myself charge just under £23+vat.
hi NKP, you can get a reconditioned psx1 exchange unit with a new lazer fitted for 30 quid from sony, my lads gone through four playstations[knackerd the lazer every time].its just as cheap than buying the lazer on its own. the phone number is sony customer services 0990 998877. PS.dont worry if your psx is chipped just unchip it.
I had a faulty Playststion given to me but Im not sure if its the laser thats at fault.....it just wont boot past the sony screen....is there anyway that a dirty lens could stop it from booting...and if so what do I clean it with?
by the sounds of it its most likely a dirty lens although worn lasers can give the same result.<br />you can get a cheap cd lens cleaner for a couple of quid with a lens cleaning solution.
Hi mikimac, if you get no joy when you clean the lazer you can try turning the psx upside down then switch the power on,it works on lazers that are only slightly worn [worth a try.
