net id *****

I have set the net id on a 4010 to 40984 which is a TW area. When I go into the engineers menu it shows as *****.

The box has already upgraded to ntl cr3_2

What causes this, will it be ok when joins the stream?

a 4010 is a davic (pure ntl) box - it won't work in a telewest area

Can I use a sammy? If so I presume I need to rewrite the ROM10 with the TW image then JTAG the box with the new net ID, the frequency should set itself?

Finally without searching what do you use to set the net ID on a 4000 and 2000?

net id on a 2000 = libby + 9pin m-f serial cable
net id on a 4000 = libby + scart / serial adaptor

sammy - will work in telewest until teleport comes in, then won't work UNLESS the sammy has come from pure NTL VOD area and has CR4 software, then should be OK (at least that's how I understand it, if anyone knows different I'm sure they'll correct me)

If your Nthell sammy should be A O K.

A friends wants a box so I am trying to figure out my options on what I can do and what I can test.

It sounds Like whatever I do cannot be tested. The only box from an NTL area is a sammy. If I purchase a TW box then I have no Libby.

And best of all a sammy has been tried already but I forgot to change the card image, the net ID remained at the same (00008) but the frequency changed to 755 where I expected 619????????

It is North Lanarkshire.
