TROUBLED former Ibrox idol Nacho Novo has been told to calm down by his Sporting Gijon boss - or risk ending up in a MENTAL hospital.
The dejected Spanish hitman is hating his return home to La Liga and is desperate to seal a dream move back to Gers.
That deal IS under consideration by Walter Smith and his coaching staff as the cash-strapped champs try to recover from the loss of 22-goal hitman Kenny Miller to Bursaspor.
The move to Gijon has turned sour for Novo. He has barely featured from the start and scored just once in 15 games as manager Manuel Preciado has gone with just one man up front.
That has enraged Novo, who has made no attempt to hide his feelings from his manager.
Now sources in Spain insist Novo is trying to engineer an exit, with his family still in Scotland.
But Preciado has ordered the disgruntled ace to chill out before he makes himself mad.
The Sporting coach said: "Nacho has to learn to relax or he will end up in a psychiatric hospital.
"He has to stop thinking over and over about his situation. If he doesn't do that he will go crazy."
Gutted Novo has found himself way down the pecking order at Sporting. He played the final 11 minutes of yesterday's 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
But it was star striker David Barral who again struck the winning goal.
Novo has found it difficult to come to terms with being a fringe player after being a cult hero among Gers fans.
Novo even trained at Murray Park when he was back in Scotland during La Liga's winter break.
But Gijon sports director Emilio De Dios last night insisted there had been no contact from the Ibrox club.
He said: "At the present moment Rangers haven't made an official approach about Nacho Novo."

fingers crossed he comes back to Ibrox lol
