modify kids ride on car

bought a kids ride on car which runs on a 6v battery but is very slow and struggles up the slightest bank.
Thinking about modifying the motor and battery to fit a strimmer motor for torque and uprate the battery to 12 or 24v. Anyone had any dealings with this sort of thing?

Don't know the details but my mate put a 12V in his kids & worked fine. Bit faster too.

thanks, I have a spare battery but was concerned it would burn the motor out, suppose it doesent matter if I change it later on

just watch the wires and switched for burning these will burn before the motor

look at the safety aspect as well..maybe it was meant to be this way.
