Microsoft has revealed that it will launch a third edition of its Xbox 360 console this week when it releases a 60GB model for under £200 in the UK.

As the US giant battles with Sony's PS3 and its increasing dominance in the market, Microsoft confirmed the launch of a 60GB Xbox 360 this Friday, retailing at £199.99.

"No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver and we know consumers need increasingly more and more space to store the amazing digital entertainment content we provide," said Neil Thompson, a senior regional director at Microsoft.

"Now the Xbox 360 has triple the space to house all your entertainment needs at no extra cost."

The full lineup of Xbox 360 consoles now includes the Xbox 360 Arcade model, with 256MB of memory and no hard drive for £159.99, as well as the new 60GB at £199.99 and the Xbox 360 Elite, featuring a 120GB hard drive, for £259.99.
