I'm wondering how many out there have experienced problems with updating the firmware on their boxes?
When v2 and v3 came out I updated my own box with no problems, I also updated the firmware for a couple of boxes I repaired with no issues at all.
When v4 cam out my box wouldn't take the update. I tried various things including resoldering the daughter board but in the end I had to replace the MAX232 chip on the daughter board before my box would update to v4.
Just today I've repaired a box that had been time bombed and again that wouldn't take the update.
So it looks like the daughter boards are just randomly going faulty and the only solution is to replace either the entire board or the MAX232 chip.
I did think initially that it might be related to the time bomb but after replacing the chip in my box I updated to v3 with no issues so it has to be something else.
So I'm wondering if others have this problem and if there's any patterns?
