Limo driver stole my stepsons booze!!

no one is saying that the op is a bad parent.

Most of the reaction here has stemmed from others, like accusations of assault etc.

At the end of the day, there are a whole raft of laws concerning alcohol and age limits. They are there for a reason.

he was'nt asking for opinions on weather his kids can drink legaly {he was asking weather this driver acted illegaly by taking it off them}--"in my opinion he did"

untill recently it was'nt illegal for a minor to possess {unopened alcohol in public}---"now the police confiscate it".

are you saying this limo driver has the same powers as the police ???????

lol, I have never said he has the same powers as the police.

It is illegal for kids under 18 to have spirits according to the law. I take it you also know if this limo service allows kids to drink alcohol in their vehicles?

"no" i dont know the laws for this limo service {and you dont either}

but kids drinking in their vehicles is a bit diffrent than kids with unopened bottles

your assumeing this drivers actions were for the wellbeing of his car {why did.nt he return the bottles at the end of the journey}-----or tell them their parents can pick itup at his depot or police station}

its simple---"the limo driver was out of order

oh dear oh dear - someone is in a grumpy mood arent they, from all I can see you have just been trolling this thread and antagonising people for a reaction - sadly for you it was you who took it too far, what a shame

Hmm.

Might be a tacit agreement for a parent to allow their children to have a drink, but it has sod all to do with the Limo driver.

The fact that they never got the drinks back is a risk taken for sending underage people out with booze. Can you not see it is a good life lesson?

I would not be a limo driver for entitled kids, and their entitled parents, for all the tea in China.

It seems that the bottle of cider and the small vodka bottle were the only drinks they were going to take.

And he did not physically search them, he only pointed out to them that if anyone else had any drink then they can either get out or give it to him. So my stepson being the muppet he is decided to admit to having the vodka. So he told him he will be taking it off him, which he did. But I did here my stepson making a remark about the driver saying he should really tip it out, but he is not going to this time.

WTF? lol.

Anyway I calmed down the next day so did not bother ringing the company up, I always seem to mellow soon after, if I had the contact info on the night I wo9uld have let rip on the tosser.

But overall he is wrong for touching someone else's property, they were not drinking in the limo, they were closed bottles and he stole one from them. And YES their limo was the only limo out od dozens that actually confiscated the alcohol.

Simple as.

Just to point out, if he had some 18 rated DVD's on him would hte limo driver confiscate them, if he had a porno mag on hm would the driver take that? What about copied computer games, they are illegal also? Point is the driver took something that did not belong to him when he clearly was out of order, he was in the wrong, the kids were allowed alcohol within a reason, it is tradition for the kids to take some booze to the prom, the teachers allow it in moderation, never been a problem ove rth years, this driver was just a thief and a dick head.

And for the comments about the kids and parents, see if whatever way you like, but he is no longer a child, he is almost 17 now and works for a living thank you very much!!! The prom has come along a couple months after he actually left school.

So if any if you are a saint and your kids are recluse goodies then so be it, but 99% of the population give their kids a little freedom and some sort of life.

Col, you alright mate...? You seem different...! ;);)

It was my partners elder sons prom night tonight. And to keep this thread in perspective he is a 100% sensible lad who is well respected, not a chav in any way.

Anyway to cut a long story short his teacher told him he could take some booze to the hall as long as it is kept discreet. We got him a small bottle of vodka to add to his drinks over the night. I have bought him drink in the past and he has left most of it so I know he is not a piss head, lol.

Anyway when the got in the limo his friend had a bottle of cider, the driver told her she could not have that in the car. It was closed, never been opened, so I wonder why not? It has naff all to do with the driver as long as it stays closed. Anyway this girls mother was watching them off so she took it back, but my point is he then went on to search the rest of them and took all of their drink from them.

He can't do this!! This is surely against the law, it is theft. I was a taxi driver for 6 years and it is not against the law for 16/17 year olds to be in the vehicle with closed alcohol!! What is against the law is for any driver to confiscate any possessions of any passenger no matter who or what it is.

What I want to know are limos any different? Considering the drinks were closed and never opened as they had not even left the car park where they were being collected!!! I want to know what this cheeky fucker does with the drink? I personally spent £5 out of my own pocket for my own stepson to have a small drink on his prom night, which when they got there it was only their limo that had been done over by this so called limo driver!!! Every other fucker at the prom had a good night, this bastard spoilt their night!!! And overall it was me who he is stealing from! as I paid for it and gave him my authority to take it!!!

Believe me I will be finding out who he is in the morning as it was the mother of the girl with the cider who booked it so she will have their number!!

I am fuming!!!

at first i was lauging when i read this, lol, and i didnt go on to read all the thread as its too late and i gotta sleep at some point, lol.

But , iam sure even children can drink booze legally as long as they are indoors and under supervision of a parent or summit, not 100% sure on this, but 99% sure, if the kids arent doing any harm boozing and they are within the family house etc under the mother and father supervision shit, then they can get pissed, there again, maybe iam wrong, dont think so though.

p.s
iam getting job as limo driver so that i can save on carry outs, lol.

i am a licensee and some of the stuff on here is so inaccurate

firstly you cannot drink unless your over the age of 18 unless your having a drink with a meal - say in a pub and are supervised by your parents for example

secondly - if your under the age of 18 and are in possession of alcohol then the police will confiscate it and mostly take you to your parents and give your folks a bad time about it

if your under the age of 18 and drinking at home then it is your problem but if the minor has an accident or injures someone else whilst under the influence and the police are called then it will kick off, they will want to know how you came in possession of alcohol etc

personally i dont think anyone under 18 should drink - i see it on a daily basis what alcohol does to adults let alone kids and in this country the culture around drinking only leads to trouble when minors are given the opportunity

as for alcohol being confiscated in a limo then the driver has done the sensible thing - he is at risk of prosecution fully allowing a minor to be in possession of alcohol whilst in that car

it is like a coach with adults on board with alcohol - if the police pull him over then the driver is liable to prosecuted and heavily fined along with the owner and we talking 5 figure amounts

i know what i would do if i was the driver

what happened if your son was steaming and was drinking in the limo and just decided to jump out whilst the car was not stationary, as a result he dies, the police would say he is a minor and the driver was responsible, you would blame the driver and want him to be banged up, and you would sue the company for loss of life

looks like the driver cant win in your opinion
