It seems someone has managed to hack the LG firmware and modified it so to add extra functions like DNLA client - the name of the modded firmware is LGMOD
The models supported are
2009 models :
LH series (42LH5000 for example)
LF series
Some LU series model
2010 models :
PJ series
PK series (mine is a 50PK250 EU/FR with 3..14 firmware)

The LG TV;s as abive use MSTAR Saturn chipset MIPS based.
Your LG TV firmware is divided into 3 parts : Bootloader, Linux Kernel, Filesystem (The later : Filesystem being subdivided itself into rootfs the master piece and other fs)
The application managing TV set is RELEASE (this is its name).
The bootloader U-boot is responsible of flash update firmware upgrade and starting linux.
The Linux kernel is the heart of the system and for saturn6 based on 2.6.26 version of linux.
The filesystem contains all context for RELEASE to execute.
LGMOD is in its current version is a mod to the Rootfs ONLY.
and using a USB Network Adapter, one use the TV as a DNLA client and stream AVI files
