hi i have an ipod touch 1st generation 16gb want to know if i can jailbreak 2.2 firmware? any help and how i shud go about doing this without messing up my ipod

Sorry to jump on this thread but I have got my lad an iPod touch off Santa, what does this 'jailbreak' do ?

Is it like the PSP/DS hacks that allow homebrew apps or something?

I have googled but all I find is info on how to do it rather than what it is.

bascially yea

it allowes it to play 3rd party apps

youtube has alot of videos explaining what jail break is
