hey guys, ive had a look at mythtv, but tbh, i hate linux, so wanted to have a look at MCE, downloaded a copy off newsgroups but it needs a serial. all i wanna do is have a little go at it, even a demo version will do. anyone know where or how i can do this? or even if its possible? thanks!

As its built on top of XP you should be able to use MCE without a serial for 30 days.
But MCE will only work out the box with DVB-t.
If you want to use DVB-c/s you're better off using the freeware MediaPortal as suggested by mgb (and M$ themselves!).

i did put vista on to see what that is like (as i heard it got MCE built in too), well what a pile of wank vista is, takes 4 hours to click a button. thanks guys will have a crack at mediaportal, ive seen plenty of posts about it on here....
