Ireland astra help for a noob please

Hopefully in right section.

The problem is I have been asked how to go about setting up a German satellite receiver (Easy one) in Ireland (Co.Roscommon) so it can receive German TV via a local dish. Haven't a clue how to do this, can anyone have some mercy and give me the basics on what to do?

The dish will need to be pointed at 19E,(bskyb is pointed at 28.2/28.5) a 60cm dish should be ok but, If you can get your hands on a 80cm it would be the better option. Dishpointer will give you a good indication of where the dish needs to be pointed from your location.

Some people like to ailgn dish, when they get strong signal they perform a scan.

IMO, it is better to load a channel list onto receiver. Once you get a signal in the rough direction, you can then check that the channels clear for that satellite. If you dont' you know you have the wrong sat.

Use an app on your phone for signal etc if using an Enigma/2 receiver.
