i found this * things that suck about the ipad
Big, Ugly Bezel
Have you seen the bezel on this thing?! It's huge! I know you don't want to accidentally input a command when your thumb is holding it, but come on.

No Multitasking
This is a backbreaker. If this is supposed to be a replacement for netbooks, how can it possibly not have multitasking? Are you saying I can't listen to Pandora while writing a document? I can't have my Twitter app open at the same time as my browser? I can't have AIM open at the same time as my email? Are you kidding me? This alone guarantees that I will not buy this product.

No Cameras
No front facing camera is one thing. But no back facing camera either? Why the hell not? I can't imagine what the downside was for including at least one camera. Could this thing not handle video iChat?

Touch Keyboard
So much for Apple revolutionizing tablet inputs; this is the same big, ugly touchscreen keyboard we've seen on other tablets, and unless you're lying on the couch with your knees propping it up, it'll be awkward to use.

No HDMI Out
Want to watch those nice HD videos you downloaded from iTunes on your TV? Too damned bad! If you were truly loyal, you'd just buy an AppleTV already.

The Name iPad
Get ready for Maxi pad jokes, and lots of 'em!

No Flash
No Flash is annoying but not a dealbreaker on the iPhone and iPod Touch. On something that's supposed to be closer to a netbook or laptop? It will leave huge, gaping holes in websites. I hope you don't care about streaming video! God knows not many casual internet users do. Oh wait, nevermind, they all do.

Adapters, Adapters, Adapters
So much for those smooth lines. If you want to plug anything into this, such as a digital camera, you need all sorts of ugly adapters. You need an adapter for USB for god's sake.

Update: Why stop at 8? Here are more things we are discovering that suck about the iPad.

It's Not Widescreen
Widescreen movies look lousy on this thing thanks to its 4:3 screen, according to Blam, who checked out some of Star Trek on one. It's like owning a 4:3 TV all over again!

Doesn't Support T-Mobile 3G
Sure, it's "unlocked." But it won't work on T-Mobile, and it uses microSIMs that literally no one else uses.

A Closed App Ecosystem
The iPad only runs apps from the App Store. The same App Store that is notorious for banning apps for no real reason, such as Google Voice. Sure, netbooks might not have touchscreens, but you can install whatever software you'd like on them. Want to run a different browser on your iPad? Too bad!

Must say that I agree with sideysid, just an oversized iPod touch, maybe a year down the line when it's cheaper and has had time to showcase what it is capable of, then I may be tempted, but until then I cant see myself forking out £300+ for something that is essentially the same as my iPhone.

I will be going for one most likely with it running the same OS as the iPhone it will most likely be jailbroken. It will be great for ebooks, movies and just general web browsing so i will be getting one.

With it being ultra lightweight i can easily carry it with me and its screen size is good enough for general stuff!

The sony ebook reader costs around £200 and is limited to just ebooks this has far more options!

I know some people think its a blown up iPod touch but if you look at it from the broader picture it has many options!

Apple also market this as a digital picture frame. The 4:3 ratio actually suits me perfectly for this purpose as that is (near enough) what my pictures are in. The problem (and am I the only one in the world to have spotted this or have I made a mistake) is that the docking port is on the shortest side of the iPad which means that when its on its dock (so it could run off the mains) all the pictures will be viewed across (landscape) whilst the iPad is in the portait orientation ?! If so .. that would TOTALLY SUCK :(

I realise there is also a case/stand for this that would put it in landscape but then it wouldnt be charging at the same time :(

This is what I am talking about (the normal dock is the same as this but WITHOUT the keyboard) ...

aye, it's a bit 'inbetween' - is it an itouch or is it a laptop. if it's just for itouch sort of stuff - it's too big. if it's for laptop type things - it's not got the right gizmos. good for 3books though, much better than the kindle

apple should have been into the netbook market - they'd make a killing.

I think its a total waste! No doubt they will intro 2nd gen and 3rd gen later with slighty more features but save your money get yourself a laptop... It has a crap size screen which isnt 16:9 and isnt capable of multitasking!!

Cant seeing this having any real life use... Anything done it can be done on a decent mobile or laptop.

I dont see the point of it to be honest. Tablet PC's have been around for yonks.

Its not like you can carry the thing around with you which makes it pointless. Why not just make the iphone a bit better??

Much prefer windows mobile. i know people slate microsoft but WM is so much more versatile and is limitless to the amount of things that can be done to it. Even android is better.

I was all for Apple and them trying to break into the MS dominated technology market until the day they had their "COPY & PASTE" advert.

Apple will start to gain a large chunk of the market im in no doubt of that and then we will see the true flaws that they have...ie, virus attacks, malware, spyware, just like windows is renowned for. When people start to take advantage of all the people who use their devices.

Dont think much of this to be honest.

Like people said tablets already around.

People wanting to get this to read ebooks should remember that the ebook readers such as sony's one have special screens in that the screen and text looks similar to paper so that it minimises strains on the eye that you get when looking at a monitor for too long.

I cannot really see a point to this either!

its all so true. this thing deserves to fail

the lack of multitasking is its biggest fail!

I read an article here comparing it to Amazon's kindle. They say it would be a kindle killer but kindle has the advantahe of being a dedicated reader.

To me it is something for lovers of apple fans. I would much prefer to get a netbook.

Apple have had some horror releases over the years and this suckers going to top the lot. What a waste of time!

What possesed the development team to even consider this? From what I can see it doesn't do anything more than the iTouch and less than the iPhone.

Bunch of cheeky bastards trying to flog this to the public!

Its clever from apple because they know hardcore apple fans will buy this and hope that others buy it also. It is going to sell for about $500 for a basic here in the US then cost more for more features.
