SImon

simon i dont think the basic hotmail supports pop3 now its a subscription service for that feature now

It still works for older hotmail accounts but if it's a relatively new one then you've had it, as Allroad says it's now a subscription service (Gates rip off again)
I just tried an old Hotmail account there and it worked ok.
I ended up with 342 e-mails in my Inbox (Long time not used)
I'm deleting it again as it's a spammers dream I think

is this what u want

im not sure if u need to know the pop settings so u can run your hotmail from outlook express ??? but if u do this is what u do i havnt tried this myself but here u go
Microsoft state that the way to check you hotmail using Outlook is by using HTTP.

Start Outlook Express, and then click Accounts on the Tools menu.

Click Add, and then click Mail.

In the Display name box, type your name, and then click Next.

In the E-mail address box, type your Hotmail address, and then click Next.

Click HTTP in the My incoming mail server is box. If Hypertext Transfer

Protocol (HTTP) is not an available choice; you are using an earlier version of Outlook Express that does not support Hotmail.

To upgrade your version of Outlook Express, view the following Microsoft Update Web site:

Windows Update

In the My HTTP mail service provider is box, click Hotmail.

Confirm that "http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp" (without quotation marks) is in the Incoming mail (POP3), IMAP or HTTP server box, and then click Next.

In the Account name box, type your Hotmail account name.

In the Password box, type your password, click Next, and then click Finish.

Your new account appears on the Mail tab of the Internet Accounts dialog box.
Click Close. At the prompt to download folders from the mail server that you added, click Yes.
