I am trying to write a report and it has to be in a html format. I am going to use Front Page and have written an introduction and a sub menu to various parts of the report. What I would like to do is link the sub menu to various places in my report. I can insert a hyperlink easily enough but that requires urls, how is it done when i only want to go say half way down the page ???

<br />I have found it now .. ise bookmark and hyperlink to the bookmark....

Just a thought.

One thing to take into account ... some ISP's servers do not like Frontpage and will screw all your work up (won't show or not look as planned).

So check that your server can take Frontpage

cheers digiperson will keep that in mind

Yes Taff they must support Front Page extensions to display properly

I use front page and have never had probs with any site even if they dont support front page. I do not use front page for uploading the site, I think thats where the problem lies. All I do is take the bare essentials of the site and upload the pages using cute. At the end of the day all I am putting up is straight forward htm pages. no probs. Front page dont come into it that way. Apart from a header on each page (which can be removed) you cant tell whether its been done by front page or by hand or by coffee cup or whatever other software.

Speccy, I could be wrong but I believe Frontpage is cappable of doing fancy things with its own extensions to the HTML format.

So if only using straight forward HTML then doing as you do should cause no problem but if using fancy or flash (not by the software of same name) intro's or whatever or your site then the ISP will need to support the Frontpage extensions.

Either that or perhaps your ISP supports Frontpage in which case you wouldn't have any probs.

Anyway, only placed previous message as a note for person to check the ISP capabilities.

all comments are welcome and noted, this web page stuff is interesting there is so much to learn and so much fun to be had trying...<br />I have messed a bout with a few pages and links and gifs.. can upload ok now thanks to dark angel but could not get the hit counter to work...<br />not that i need it but as i said i am experimenting...

thank you all <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

uploading with frontpage is working good but slow. And frontpage has a little failure in their uploading option. behind your website-adress from your provider, where you want to upload you must write an easy /and it should work with frontpage uploading.

Digi you are quite right mate. FP has lots of functions that need to be supported by the host (if you decide to include them). A built in hit counter is just one example. It wont work unless supported. I avoid such luxuries. Any java routines or whatever then I import manualy and dont rely on FP for that kind of thing.

I am lucky I do not use front page to upload I use terrapin

Hi all

I use terrapin ftp, i find it a very good little program vary easy to use.

I also use frontpage. I use it because it's easy and quick for the making pages with.

I think i'll shut up now, cause i'v lost the plot.

Cheers.
