My laptop connects to my D-Link router with a D-Link wifi card. Or rather it doesn't ...
It looks OK. I get the wireless connection icon (with the connection described as "excellent") and if I open Network Connections it says the link is working fine.
But Internet Expolorer says "page cannot be opened .. blah ..blah". It is as though IE cannot "see" the internet connection. IN fact, no programs can connect to the Web, including Outlook and my anti-virus software.
This problem came out of the blue when I was using Win 98se.
So I removed the pc card and driver and instaslled a usb wifi dongle instead. But after a few days the same thing happened.
So I upgraded to Win XP. After a week of working perfectly, it's doing exactly the same thing.
Please, someone help before I go mad.
*Extra info: It's an IBM thinkpad T22, with 800mhz processor and 256 meg of ram, running XP Pro.
*I've tried checking the "detect network settings" box but that makes no odds.
*I've also tried the automatic repair connection wizard - but that seems to think there's nothing wrong.
*I've disabled both Zone Alarm and the Windows Security firewall and closed down AVG anti-virus.
Thanks to all who have read this far.
