heatsink and fan, is it okay?

hi all

i purchased a intel core2 extreme 6850 cpu and had to buy a heatsink and fan of ebay

The problem is when i recieved it there was no paste, i emailed the bloke i bought it from and asked he replied "Yes with original heatpad'' that is pre-applied by Intel. No other paste is necessary"

is he talking rubbish or is it okay to use this heatsink without any form of paste?

I bought a new cpu today and it came with a heatsink and with the thermal paste already applied to it. Do not use it without any thermal paste there will be a good chance it will overheat
in the sellers pic it has the paste applied. the 3 grey stips

just took it out of the box and mine has 3 grey strips so i take it, it is okay to put straight onto the cpu?
