Soccer Aid 2010

England vs Rest Of The World
Old Trafford, Sunday 6 June, 19:30

With less than a day before kick off at Old Trafford, Soccer Aid 2010 has signed a raft of global movie stars for its Rest of the World squad.

Comic genius Mike Myers (Austin Powers, Wayne’s World), Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson (The People vs Larry Flint, Natural Born Killers, Zombieland, White Men Can’t Jump) and Australian born actor Simon Baker (The Mentalist, LA Confidential, The Devil Wears Prada) will all be joining the star-studded line up to help raise money for UNICEF.

The Hollywood A-listers will be putting in an Oscar-winning performance in the hope that they will help the Rest of the World team lift the Soccer Aid trophy for the very first time.

The Hollywood trio will join the team alongside captain Michael Sheen (The Queen, Twilight: New Moon, Alice in Wonderland), world class chef Gordon Ramsay, TV presenter Gethin Jones, comedian Patrick Kielty, Westlife members Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne, cricketing legend Brian Lara, undefeated boxing champion Joe Calzaghe and actor James Kyson-Lee, who plays Ando in Heroes.

The celebrities will be joined by football heroes including Zinedine Zidane, Manchester United hero Ryan Giggs, former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and Swedish legend Henrik Larsson with even more high-profile names to be announced.

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish will manage the super squad with the help of his old Reds team mate Ian Rush.

They will be taking on the England team, coached by Bryan Robson. The impressive team sheet includes:

Captain Robbie Williams, GMTV presenter Ben Shephard, actor and TV presenter Bradley Walsh, presenter and DJ Jamie Theakston, comedian Paddy McGuiness, actors Rupert Penry-Jones, Damian Lewis, and Jonathan Wilkes, boxing hero Ricky Hatton and footballing heroes Alan Shearer, David Seaman, Teddy Sheringham, Martin Keown, Nicky Butt and Jamie Redknapp.

Soccer Aid, the brainchild of Robbie Williams, Jonathan Wilkes and UNICEF UK, will be kicking off on Sunday 6th June at Manchester's legendary Old Trafford stadium and broadcast live on ITV1. Two star-studded squads of footballing legends and celebrities from England and the Rest of the World will take on one another in an electrifying football match all in aid of UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation.

Money raised through profits from ticket sales and donations made by viewers during the match will go to UNICEF’s invaluable work helping children around the world.

thx for that.....nearly forgot with moving house inall that:Clap:

Thommo...are you watching BGT, cos the advert was on a few minutes ago...lol.

Yes I am watching it.

Thx for heads up anyway m8 and the info about it.

Hopefully Paolo Maldini's still playing for the ROW but even if he ain't, Zidane & Giggs in the same team? Up against Martin Keown ffs
Nah, all for a great cause & usually a decent match (anybody remember Boris' tackle when he came on as a sub a few years back??)
HH.

looking forward to this always good fun and a great charity

Went an it was a good day out to be honest and yet another england defeat on pens, ffs Williams and Mcguiness hang your heads in shame haha. Thought ben Sheperd had that Zidane feller in his pocket and ald Ramsey was knocking hell out of anyone he could get close to lol. Quite tense in OT during the shoot out and you just knew harelson was gonna bag the last pen CHEERS woody. Nice to see the SAS back together again although it did look like Sheringham might have lost a bit of pace ;)

From an entertainment perspective the penalty shootout made it worth sitting through the match lol....I see England get nobbed on penalties yet again - what made it worse was we got done by a yank who didn't know where the penalty spot was lol. ;)

Nice to see Sheringham and Zidane still have it....Shearer should have buried his chance in that second half though!

I'm surprised they don't do more of those soccer aid type things as they're always entertaining to watch pros vs celebs and they always raise good money too....
