was using this to watch films on ipad to tv until updated to ios 8 now says not supported have tried many tweaks but none seem to work anyone know if can be done please or have i gotta buy proper apple lead thanks in advance..

It sounds like a 'clone' cable. Had the same problem and ended up buying a pukka Apple jobby.

We are on iOS 9 nearly, you would be better off getting an Amazon fie stick and putting kodi and genesis on it. I use Apple phones but would never rely on them for tv

Cydia has an app to bypass the cable issue if you re jailbroken

support unsupported accessories , im not sure if it was just the charging cables i used but it stopped working for me on one of the ios updates. worth a try though.
