Hard drive destruction 'crucial'

If you use the latest version, it will recover files. Probably not all of them, but a good deal of them

I didn't find a single file I was after. I was searching for photo's and it came up with windows sodding files. I guess that home user software (even though I have the enterprise version) isn't up to the task of retrieving deleted data off a hard drive.

If you can recommend me some software I can test your theory.

Acronis works, it has worked for me. Also testdisk on Debian will recover photos for you after you have written zeros.

I discovered Acronis after is was recommended to me by someone I used to work with who had the same issue as me. It takes hours to find them and recover them.

I'd take the platters out and dissolve them in old ferric chloride etchant.

I think it would take the coating off ceramic platters too.
