Golf TDI ARL 150

Using 1 litre of oil per 500miles average.

No visible leaks,boosts fine,no excessive blue smoke on start-up(valve guides),no excessive smoke on tickover or normal running(rings)

Some white / bluish smoke on giving it some throttle (turbo oil seals)

Other things i'm considering.....excessive blowby or vacuum leaks.

Anyone??? got much else to offer.

has turbo got play init ??

if the oil seals are starting to fail then u should notice some oil on turbo / in pipes

I'm about to get under it in 10 mins to have a look etc.

What do I look for and where.

Mines a Gttdi 150 1.9 mk4.

What sort of mileage are we talking about?

I used to work at a VW garage and these engines do take quite a lot of miles to bed in.

122k for mine,suspect its blowby rings or valve stem oil seals.No play in turbo, small amount of oil in intercooler.

Front passenger side just below radiator,remove intercooler pipe,if theres loads of oil suspect turbo.
