The girl had been playing with her younger sister but said she had been taken to a block of flats, a bin shed and a field by the boys, it was alleged.

When the younger girl went home without her sister, the mother went looking for her and found her with the boys, said Rosina Cottage, prosecuting.

The boys, now aged 11 and 10, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, deny two charges each of rape and two charges each of attempted rape of a child under 13, in October, last year.

The offences were alleged to have happened in Hayes, west London, near to where all the children - who knew each other - lived.

The boys, amongst the youngest charged with rape, looked tiny sitting in the middle of the court between their mothers and solicitors.

The judge, Mr Justice Saunders, and lawyers in the case dispensed with their robes and wigs.

The jury was told that sitting hours had been shortened and other steps were taken because the defendants were so young.

The judge, wearing a dark grey suit, sat where the court clerk normally sits so he was on the same level as the boys.

Miss Cottage told the jury of six men and six women: "This case concerns rape by two boys still at primary school of a girl even younger than them.

"Together they took her to different locations near where they lived in order to find a sufficiently secluded spot to assault her.

"When they did, they pulled down her pants and helped each other to penetrate her. The events leading to the alleged rapes all took place in and around a block of flats and they ended in a field."

Miss Cottage said when the victim's mother and younger sister went to fetch her, they bumped into the mother of the younger defendant and a five-year-old playmate.

When the boy's mother asked the little boy where her son was "he said that he was in a nearby field and that he was with (the girl) and that he was hurting her", said Miss Cottage.

He pointed over to the field and they went to find the children. The girl's mother went into the field but could not locate her.

"As she was walking out she saw her with the boys and asked what they had been doing. They all said nothing," added Miss Cottage.

The mother asked for her daughter's scooter back from the younger defendant.

But as they walked home, the woman "could see things were not right with her daughter". In the car, she asked her what was wrong and her daughter told her what had happened.

The woman went to see the boys' parents who were not in but spotted the older boy.

Miss Cottage said she asked what happened but he replied "nothing".

The younger boy joined them and allegedly said: "I didn't touch her" before anything was said.

Then the older boy had added: "It wasn't me. It was (the other boy)."

The mother called police and the girl told them they "put their thingies in me".

"She was taken to hospital because she was complaining of pains in her stomach," said Miss Cottage.

The trial continues.

Update

Girl, eight, admits she lied about rape by boys An eight-year-old girl admitted today lying about two 10-year-old boys accused of raping her because she was worried that she would be in trouble with her mother after being “a tiny bit naughty”.

The primary schoolgirl admitted she feared that she would not be given sweets if her mother knew that the three of them had been showing each other their private parts.

The prosecution claims that the boys raped the girl during an ordeal in which she was taken to a block of flats, later held captive in a bin shed and finally assaulted in a park in Hayes, West London.

Giving evidence via a video link to the Old Bailey, the girl admitted during cross-examination that neither boy had dragged her to a secluded spot, pulled down her underwear or raped her.

Instead she agreed with Linda Strudwick, defending the older boy, that she feared getting in trouble and so told her mother that they had pulled down her underwear rather than her having done so voluntarily.

She agreed that when in the bin sheds in October last year she had wanted to be with the boys because they were having fun and giggling.

Sitting in annexe to the court, the girl sometimes patted her hands together, stroked her hair or drank from a bottle of blackcurrant juice as she gave evidence.

Ms Strudwick asked: “You told your Mum that the boys took your knickers down because you didn’t want your Mum to know that you had been naughty. Is that right?” The girl replied: “Yes.”

She then agreed that she was not “dragged” anywhere and was not raped by either boy.

Asked whether she had wanted to be with the boys, she replied: “I kind of did.” Asked what she was worried about, she said: “No sweeties.”

Ms Strudwick asked whether she had been naughty and she admitted “only a tiny bit” but she could not remember how.

After finishing her evidence the judge, Mr Justice Saunders, noted that she appeared “exhausted” and thanked her, adding: “No one is suggesting you have done anything wrong. I am the judge. I know when people have done something wrong. You have not done anything wrong. Remember that.”

The two boys, one of whom is now 11, watched proceedings from the well of the court sitting in between their mothers and solicitors. Neither the barristers nor the judge was wearing gowns or wigs because of the age of the defendants. None of the children, who knew each other, can be named for legal reasons.

The jury of six men and six women was told that when the child was taken to hospital with stomach pains but she did not have any injuries to her genitalia, but had a number of scratches and grazes.

Both boys deny rape and attempted rape in last year.

The trial continues.

Nothing else to say really!

Don't know what to say except that sadly this does not surprise me. I know that there are kids at my son's primary school aged 6 and 7 who talk about sex and are clued up about. Just a sad statement about the society the media and adults have created.

can they even get it up or did they pinch their dads viagra???

fookin crazy place we live in now

I am pretty certain they can but what was disturbed (like the whole thing was not disturbing enough) was they were helping each other.

This is disgusting to think we have rapists so young, don't agree with this " Can't be identified for legal reasons ". Crimes are being committed by younger and younger people and I would vote for the " Name and Shame " principle.
This child has got to live with this image, ( helping each other) I assume means holding her down while the other attempts to penetrate, for the rest of her life.
It will affect her in any relationship that progresses to the sexual stage at that time with consent if she can pluck up the courage to put the past behind her and move on.
Very Upsetting for any one who suffers at the hands of others.

It's just been on the news that the girl has addmitted in court that she made it up

if is true, just cut their di*ks off ... that will solve future problems!

All they did was show each other their bits for God's sake!!

It's only natural curiosity.

The biggest indictment on society is that even at eight young girls have learn to cry 'r@pe' to try to avoid punishment.

That update does put things in perspective doesn't it. More public money wasted by overzealous police.

How can you claim the police being overzealous. The girl gave a version of events to her mum at which point the police to be involved. The girl was interviewed and stuck to her version of the events till the trial. Don't see anything wrong the cops did.

It only took some carefully handled gentle questioning in court to break her story. If the police had been more thorough this would never have come to court.

That is true. I think that there has been so much pressure alplied to the Police in regard to r@pe that they feel obliged to push it thru the courts.

I still feel the saddest part is that even at 8 a girl has been made aware that if you are in a jam cry 'RAPE!' regardless of what serious repercussions it will have for a man (or boy)

Im sorry but am i on my own here thinking this is completly wrong statment to say???

I respect that she is only a kid but she has put these boys thru hell and the judge say's she's done nothing wrong. The lads will probably be so scared to even go by a girl now.

I think sometimes girls/women are let off to easy for things like this.

Its not a lie its a life changing/destroting thing and they shud be punished accordingly.

Remember this:Selling a goldfish

and this girls is told she has done nothing wrong?????????

:wtf:

I understand what you're saying, but I think that's maybe a bit harsh. She is only eight.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the idea of her being raped was put into her head by her mother, or by the police who questioned her.

I think the people who brought this to court are the villains here.

I think what's more ridiculous is the typical dw reaction to this, always complaining about this or that regarding tax payer money or society. Come on these people are only children, it's obviously a different time now to when you were 10 but at least attempt to think back to the things you got up to at that age regarding girls and innocent curiosity etc. Surely most of us have been there as kids. The only difference here is a lie that got to court only to be found out there. But how did that happen and who is really to blame ?

I don't think anyone can be blamed as they're just kids and the girl probably didn't realize the implications or the seriousness of it until it got to court, the parents stand by their kids until kingdom come taking their word as gospel and somewhat rightly so, and you can't blame the police either as rape accusation is rape accusation in the eyes of the law. Though it is worrying that the girl knew enough to accuse rape in the first place and I'm sure it was the parents who pushed it to get the police involved and get it to court. I'm wondering if the mother was sniffing a handout.....probably, but she can't be blamed either as she has plausible deniability. It's just one of those things that happens where nobody can rightly be blamed. In my honest opinion.
