Evening all, :)

A work colleague of mine's 11 year old son is wanting a gaming PC for Xmas. His budget is very tight, due to a lengthy custody battle which cost him a lot of money he didn't have.
Could someone recommend one that will play the latest games at the lowest possible price?

Cheers
Dar :)

His budget is very tight

How much can he spend ?

Or you building it ?

Not too sure Spud?

What is the cheapest option that will play the most popular game's? :)

Im still using a old GPU nvidia geforce gtx 970

playing the new games well

You could look for a decent I5 cpu build on fleebay

Could one be purchased in-store. I don't think he's on ebay (he's a bit old school regarding IT lol)

Will cost a fortune doing it that way m8

Have you not got a local pc shop , Not pcworld lol as they will rip your eyes out

I think there are a few small pc places (i don't get out much nowadays lol)

I'll ask his budget tomorrow.
I did guess him a rough quote of £650 and he cringed a bit lol

I got this off Ebay a couple of weeks ago for my lads xmas present.
Pretty decent, ive tested it and it plays games like GTA5 @ 1080p easily.

Spec
I5 2400 CPU @ 3.1ghz (3.6 boost)
16GB of ram
1TB Hard drive
GTX 1650 graphics card
Win 10.
Theres loads on Ebay, this seller also has 100% feed back. Im happy with it for the price.20201119_193630.jpg

So its a refurb yes?.
CPUSeller notes:“Our gaming PCs are made USING BRAND NEW COMPONENTS EXCLUDING THE MOTHERBOARD, RAM, AND CPU and come pre-installed with a Genuine Windows 10 64-Bit license. This item is built/tested/cleaned on site by our team of highly skilled engineers and fully functional as intended. All "New(Other)" condition Gaming PC's will come with 12 months warranty with Computer Specialist.”

I don't think so as the I5 an older spec model than current. They are probably using older spec business machines and adding better graphics card and hdd to a new case to make a gaming machine.

Refurbed or not ( The 1 i have shows no sign or wear or tear or being refurbed ) this is a great entry price for a gaming pc including delivery.
A GTX 1650 alone will set you back £140

It performs well too.

If you're on a budget the best thing you can do imo is build a rig yourself. It takes a bit of time to figure everything out and you need some IT experience. You can have a look at different builds from people on pcpartpicker like this build is just in his price range and you can still go a little cheaper on storage.

But if it's too difficult to build one your next best option is to buy second hand. Lots of people selling their old gaming pc, maybe you can score a good deal?

I can recommend one of the gaming pc that I have used, that's it Acer Predator Orion 3000, if you have luck you can get it on eBay for a good price.

@dar1437 If he buys all the kit, I can build it for them for nothing mate. I've done a few, but again £500 is tight, but do-able as long as they don't want a titan GFX of something ;)
Thanks for the offer Jan (very kind). He's opted to get one from Curry's. He's not really one for online purchases (don't think he's ever used eBay etc lol). I think he'd like to be able to return it in store if problems started, rather than packing it up and posting it. :)
