I have a 2011 focus 1.6tdci and recently it has developed a quite loud rattle/knocking on right hand side suspension strut when traversing a rough road, I have replaced drop links last year and wishbones and I have had it up on a lift to check underneath but everything seems solid n tight, I'm guessing top mount but my question is would this cause a rattle/knock?

dont think top mount will give you those symptoms more like a crack when turning steering wheel, any play on inner steering arm which can cause issues on rough roads.

I didn't notice any when up on lift, thats what led me to think top end

We had the say issue on a 2009 fiesta. My mate who's a mechanic took it for a spin and and after checking everything reckoned it was the bearing at the top of the suspension spring and he was right.

Thats what I'm thinking too, my local breakers yard has a 2010 strut for 50 bucks might get it and swap it out
