An html attachment named Informations.html was also present, when opened this takes you to the default ebay sign in screen, well so you think. I didn't log in but assuming i did my account details would have been no doubt logged and sent to the creator of this scam.

The reasoning behind all this is unsure to me, as they couldn't gain access to credit card details but I'm assuming they would use these account to create bogus auctions ripping peeps off and laying the blame on the actual account holders.

Well yous have been warned... Spread the word..

good post m8,thanx for the warning

I'd forward the email to ebay investigations m8 and let them look into it... although I'm sure somebody will have already done this...

Yup I forwarded the email just before I put this post up, they got back to me yesterday morning asking me to reply back with the message source because they don't open attachements  but hey at least someone's looking into it. :)

Password and Account Protection:

eBay will never ask you for your password and will never ask you for
your personal financial details in an email.

There are several steps that you can take to protect your password:

- Avoid using on eBay the same password that you use on your email
account.
- Use the same precautions for your email account that you use on your - eBay account - carefully protect both.
- Avoid using the same password that you use on other websites
- Do not share your password with others.
- Review the privacy policies of third parties that offer you services
to determine how your information will be protected.
- If you believe that someone has obtained your password, change it
immediately and contact eBay.

All seems like sound advise to me, altho it might be an idea to warn peeps well in advance of receiving this sort of mail.

I hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the update ;)
