Runway resurfacing project completed ahead of schedule
A £6 million project to resurface the runway at Newcastle International Airport has reached completion today, five weeks ahead of schedule.

The complex task of resurfacing the 2,329m airstrip began at the start of January, 15 years after the job was last carried out.

Work by contractors Tarmac was undertaken overnight, between 11:30pm and 5:45am, so as not to disrupt daily flight schedules.
