connecting wireless usb rf zyxel dongle to router

i am having problems connecting my wireless usb rf zyxel dongle to my router, i plug in the dongle to my laptop and wireless connection 3 comes up when i input the network key it does not recognise it. i need to get this to work so i can connect my television to the usb dongle to access bbc iplayer etc as televsion did
not come with magic motion remote etc
