Just check online updates on my cloud ibox 2 with OpenAtv 5 with kernel 3.12.1.
There is new kernel 4.0.1, I don't know is it safe to update, because we use patched kernel.

Is this the end of cloud ibox 2 updates?

Till the new kernel and drivers are patched it is not safe mate.

You can not do an online update for the kernel anyway you will have to reflash so wait for patched images if any come out.
