What is blinkbox?
blinkbox is a pay-per-view IPTV and digital distribution platform owned by Tesco.

What does it cost?
As a pay-per-view (PPV) platform there is no subscription. Rentals start at 99p, but the cost is variable - as you'd expect newer releases cost more.

Digital copies of Movies and TV shows are available to purchase at higher cost. Seasons of TV series are available collectively as 'boxsets'.

How often is content added?
With the TV titles it's not long after they air in the UK.

How long does content last?
With rentals you get 30 days from the date of purchase to begin watching. You then have 48 hours to watch, but can watch as many times as you like within that time frame (ideal if you want to review a film before allowing the kids to watch).

Purchased titles last "forever" (or at least for as long as blinkbox maintain the licence). If a purchased title is unavailable to watch, you should contact blinkbox's customer services.

Any special offers?
Not so much a special offer, but it's worth noting it's cheaper to buy a season than it is to rent/buy more than a few individual episodes. The only issue is, unlike iTunes, you appear to have to wait until a series has finished before the season becomes available as a boxset.

How do I watch?
You can watch via your browser at blinkbox.com. Alternatively there are apps for Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as for iOS, Android and Windows Mobile devices. There is limited support for Smart TVs, Blu-Ray players and set-top boxes.

What are the alternatives/comparables?
Sky Store
iTunes Season Pass

Anything else?
Digital copies can cost more than the DVD and Blu-Ray version, and they're not stored locally - meaning you'll need internet access to stream. On the other hand, unlike subscription model services, once you've bought a series/movie it shouldn't disappear from the library.

As the service uses Silverlight, only Windows and OS X computers are supported.

blinkbox seem to have the exclusive UK IPTV licence for Game of Thrones, The Newsroom and certain other HBO shows.

As a Tesco product, rentals and purchases are eligible for clubcard points.
