Best underlying OS for XBMC?

I've got a PC box for under the telly...64-bit, 4Gb RAM, 1Gb HDMI GFX card...

The PC currently has Windows 8.1 on it, but from your experience, what is the best OS for running XBMC?

I have win7 on mine i thought win 8 was full of bloatware.

I was under the impression Win 8 IS the bloatware!!

To be honest if you are just using it for xbmc then the smaller and lighter the OS the better, you can get a xbmc version of Ubuntu which would be perfect

i found that Ubuntu does not have good support for HD graphics cards.....so i went windows 7
