I've just read a message from my Bank detailing the interest rate which is dropping yet again as from July 14th. It is now going to 0.05%
Pretty sure we all dreamed at least once of winning the lottery and living off the interest. Still possible but would have to be an extremely sizeable sum.

A million in the bank would roughly give interest of:

1979.........£11,333 per month...£136,000 per year
1990.........£9,250...per month...£111,000 per year
2000.........£4000...per month...£48,000....per year
2010.........£333...per month.....£4000........per year
2020.........£33......per month....£400...........per year.

I posted a couple of days ago where I mentioned I was bringing home more than £200 a week back in 1978. A member was shocked I was earning that much. The above is just one example where financially we were on a good thing back in the 70's and 80's. Ahh, the good old days. ;)

Is that Natworst? I think I lost my bonus on my "savings account" too, which I get minuscule interest on anyway.

I want NS&I to double the Premium Bond holding limit. I get about £650~£700 a year on £50k, not the best, I know, but there is a chance of the big prizes.
