Has anyone on this forum had this procedure done and if not do you know of anyone who has. Just returned from papworth myself and was wondering if anyone has been cured from racing palpatations:flock2:

i had it done 9 years ago it did work till 2 years a go and the svt came back .
you wont feel a thing apart from the probe going up your back .
by the way is its svt you have and wat do you think of the adenosine to stop it
from racing i hate that stuff 5 seconds of hell .

I had this recently and had the cardioversion (electric shock treatment) which sorted it out ok, back to normal now as if nothing had happened.
for the proceedure you get an injection (morphine then a sedative) and are not aware of anything at all.

Very interesting, i hope the shocks keep your palpitations down for some time sempi.

I hope so, when it came on it was just like butterflies in the chest and I could not walk the length of myself despite doing on average 125 lengths swimming per week (only a 20metre pool) about 12Km on cross trainer per week, 3 hours of karate and 2 rounds of golf per week....
on medication for heart rate (betablocker) and was at docs last week and heart rate was only 56 although BP was a tad high need to get it checked next week and if Bp still high need to go on additional meds..:(

I had this for nearly 6 years, had allsorts of things said to me, like rest and stop worrying and don't stress, I've just had a pacemaker fit on the 22 march, just visited the doctor and he says it may take 2 years to settle down? got to see the hospital specialist again soon, so hoping to be a lot better looked after than I have been, the Unit in Blackburn royal were really good, very well looked after and the op was a doddle.

my Afib came back and I was just in this morning getting it shocked back into rythm again...hope it lasts a little longer this time.

I knew i should not have looked at this thread !!!
