The Wii U might be getting a little bit better soon. Sometime around last summer, Nintendo and Unity Technologies pulled together to start creating games for the Wii U that use the Unity engine. Now, at GDC, we have word on how far that agreement has come.

Talking with Siliconera, Nintendo of America's Damon Baker revealed the number of Unity games in development. Nine games could be seen at GDC, and seventeen are almost complete or ready to be released, while another 50 are waiting in line for development. Baker did not clarify if those first nine games were part of the next seventeen, so depending on how you read it, the total number could either be 76 or 67. In either case, that means a lot of original titles will be hitting the Wii U eShop in the coming months, not counting any that may be in development using other engines
