I already had a few entries of my own, but just found a source for a very comprehensive list, it includes a batch file to auto add.

And I must say, browsing is lightening now :)

site
(hosts.zip is about halfway down the page)

(Also anyone using Chrome, because just re-tried it and am now a convert over FF.)

Who knows !
It certainly can speed up the loading of a site when you remove all the 'external' tracking crap that they all seem to include these days.

Unfortunately though, there seems to be a growing trend to code these trackers so that they wait for a response for 30 secs or more before allowing the rest of the page to load so putting certain trackers in the hosts file can make certain web-sites almost unusable.

To get around this you need to use a browser or proxy which supports dynamically stripping out the superfluous code from web-pages so its never executed. I used to use Proxomitron to filter pages but not really used it for a while now so not sure if its kept up with the latest techniques.

I use chrome as my main browser. Quick loading and I like the most visited websites icons in the new tab
