I've never known of anyone to get a virus on a phone.

That said it stands to reason that it is a real possibility. The reason you dont get a virus on linux is there is not enough users to bother. Now that android is as big as it is it is no wonder they are out there

just thought i would add about avast, the program is excellent it is packed with cool features anti thieft, and one of my favs is block texts from unknown numbers option. it flags up when a spammy text comes though and allows you to view it before you select to block.
the antivirus part is excellent, i downloaded a virus infected apk and it detected it as an app that would make premium rate text msgs - saved me a fortune me thinks.
