I can thoroughly recommend Medion computers I have had 2 a desktop and a laptop and their customer service is the best after 2 years use the tower had to have a new graphics card which then needed to have the mother board replaced both by a service engineer in my home one week after reporting the fault. the guarantees are 36 mnths the laptop i have had for 2yrs 7 months and because i have been adding more memory and the computer is used by me for upto 12hrs a day I have had the following done since december
the inverter cable for the screen was replaced in 7 days.Next the hard drive started to fail, while i was witing for them to collect it the speakers started to only work in some screen positions and they replaced the keyboard some keys had worn lettering and lost thier bounce when i got it back after 7 days i put the memory upgrade back in and broke the touch pad board so this was replaced in 2 days all this was done free of charge now most guarantee's are for 12 months and they are hard to get through to but medionjust phone 01793715698 instead of the helpline Number they give you explain whats wrong and they put you through to the tech support.

Ive also had a medion desktop for nearly 4 years and its been the best PC Ive owned :)

Im 99% sure Ill be in the queue next Thursday for this :Hit:

what do you PC guys think ?
pros and cons on this spec for the money ?

What would this system be like for playing the newest games ( new cod etc ). Also in the past ive heard these are rare in Aldi and near immpossible to get. Do i need to camp outside an ALdi all night lol

For the price that is a great system i doubt i could build the same for less.

Obviously the graphics are low end so wouldnt expect it to run modern too well. However that can easily be upgraded if you want to.

couple of questions I have

is dual core ok,or should I really go for quad ?

what is the eSata on front for apart from hard drive ?

Windows Vista® Home Premium 32 Bit with new Media Centre user interface incl. Service Pack 1 (64 Bit version included on DVD) is it best to install this ? just wondering as its not already pre installed

Well what do you want to do john if you do lot's of video converting multi taksing that will actualy use multiple cores then go quad.

However i think that most people are better off with a faster dual core than a quad core cpu.

Not much difference between 32 and 64 bit either john supposed to be faster and if you have a system that can run it then you might aswell.

I have a dual core e5200 overclocks like a beast and scores 5.7 on vista at its current clock speed. And i doubt if i upgraded to quad atm i would see any difference.

well tbh Mat I do what every other member does :)

download,encode,surf,play music etc

Is it worth wating for the next aldi pc probably shipped with windows 7 ?

I aint even gone over to vista yet lol well wife has it on her Lappy but I dont use that

Im in desperate need for a upgrade (PC) and want to be future proof so Im wondering if dual core is a good idea with quad core out and the newer Intel Core i7 ???

PC's have never been my strong point lol

Highly Commended: Medion, PC Specialist
Medion follows up last year’s top position with another award, gaining particular praise from its customers for value for money
yet still backing that up with fine reliability scores. UK firm PC Specialist joins it on the rostrum,
with customer support being its most impressive feature; no wonder 89% of its customers would buy PC Specialist again.

Looking At This One Too

Ugly I know but it will be under my desk lol

Graphics in the Acer is half the memory of the Medion - only really a problem if you intend gaming (in which case you'd want to upgrade the HD 4350 in the Medion anyway).

As for the processor the 7750 is dual core the 9550 is quad core. Tom's Hardware have benchmarked both, and mainly favours the 9550: Compare AMD Phenom X4 9550, AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black

Pros:
great specs for price. Cons:
no built in wireless - need to buy adaptor.
"Bought this for my daughter to replace a dead Dell. Very impressive. Excellent specs for the price. Actually came with 512 MB graphics card rather than 256 so very happy about that. Didnt have a keyboard in the package as stated but did have speakers.
One minor drawback - does not have built in wireless so had to buy an adapter for £20.
Overall a very good buy for the price."
