Hi all, Brother has a small network problem. He has 2 PC's 1 with 2K & 1 with 95. They are connected via a crossover cabel & see each other ok. The 2k pc can access the W95 ok but the W95 Pc asks for a password. Brother has tried every password that he has ever used, with no luck. We have tried every setting that i can think of, still no luck. The main problem is that I am trying to advise him by phone as to what to do, but I am not very conversant with 2K. 4 Hrs on the phone has left me with a SORE EAR. .We are using Client for Microsoft Networks. Protocol is NetBEUI.File and printer sharing for MS Networks.

Please help if you can. Rocketray.

sorry mate, don't think it can be done. I've never got it to work, and ended up putting NT4 on my 95 box. Because the s\ware is designed to be used in different environments, i.e. 2k is corporate and 95 is home, the security is handled by 95 in a half arsed way, and as such it seems to not be able to interact with 2k's security. But that is hardly surprising, bearing in mind how secure 2k is and that it is 5yrs ahead of 95!!!
Thinking about it......u might like to try going into users or is it passwords in win95 control panel and set up a username and password to match the one on 2k, but i think i tried that aswell!!!! Personally m8 i'd give up.

Seting users/passwords the same on each machine seems to of done the trick. A Big thank you for your comments.
Rocketray.

If you creat an account on your win2k machine with a user name and password that your other machine uses you then wont need to use the same name and password on each machine
