Not quite the same but here is a perfect example as to why they get caught.

Some people are just dumb. It's illegal so why advertise the fact you are doing it? It's like a drug dealer posting on eBay what they have and the prices. People like this deserve to get caught

kodi is perfectly legal.
Are the addons legal?
Im not aware of many people running kodi without addons.
My point is to take a simple precaution to avoid any hassle.

I must be in the minority then i use SPMC (Android Dev 'Kodi') with Zero illegal addons installed on my Shield, I use it for what it was designed for a media streamer from your own sources
