yup, found a 2nd hand LSI megaraid card with 8 sata ports! for £150 will keep you posted! im going with the ubuntu server edition just like you recomended! thanks!

im keeping the scsi in raid 5 and thinking about adding another sata raid 5 with 4x750gigs hotswap! eventually get some 1TB drives when prices fall. u guessed lol for file sharing! thanks again karym6!
