Flashing the chip on my VU duo clone

Yes it is but please note that you will need a PC/Laptop that has an RS232 serial port as the USB to serial adaptors do not work, It is also advised to use WinXP when Flashing as i have seen posts from people having trouble with Win7 and serial ports.

I have an xp laptop with a pcmcia to rs 232 that seems to work well, ive used it for flashing my dm 500 and unlocking old rom 11 cards also flashing modems so I with a bit of luck it will work.

Any help guys I cant seem to find the files to put on a usb to flash the box I was going to use black hole 1.7.4 or 5.

Ive got that mate Im looking for the blackhole image with the files i need on my stick to load 1.7.4

go to the source m8, ***.vuplus-community.net but dont tell them you have a clone, regards mdt

If the box you have is v2.x then the box will already have been updated so you shouldn't need to do an update, simply load the image via USB but make sure you check first.

Its not v2.x ive had it since the clones came out its the first ce im just looking for the image i didnt really want to join another forum to get the image

just to add there are some reported issues with BH 1.74 & 1.75 the last stable release was 1.73

yes to much crap on 1.7.4+1.7.5 black hole images i think i'm changing to the vix images soon latest ones seem to be more stable then latest b.hole ones

I'm using ViX 2.5-151 at the mo with no issues.

Isn't ViX based on OpenPLi with some whistley bits added? If so I might go back to basic OpenPLi as that's what I used to use on my dm800se.

I've used OpenPLI images on my Clone DUO as expected they work fine which is pretty typical of PLI images. It's a good idea if you dotn want bloatware just run a pure OpenPLI image and add only the plugins you need. It's a bit lame you have to manually install your Softcams or use extraURL etc..on VIX images..no such issue with PLI images..unless they decide to change it in the future.

VIX defintiely were PLI based not sure if they still are though theres also OpenVIX stuff now so im not sure..

All done guys cheers I updated the chip and put blackhole 1.73 on I like that it has now and next.
