Bought a load in to pass around family to replace their DM500c's with a server I'm setting up.

I was just wondering at this current point in time, what is the most user friendly 'wife proof' type image going around for the DM500, with a decent EPG and obviously CCcam compatiable?

I used to love the old DigitalWorldz Neutrino image, the EPG was great and my family members are quite used to it. Without trying I imagine that this wouldn't be useful for satellite because of the different EPG and Cccam?

Most 500 images are old now and not really maintained or updated. The only exception is openpli which gets nightly builds, supports Rytec EPG plugin, and works with new cam versions CCAM 2.2.1 etc...direct from the built in downloads panel.

Not the best looking skin etc...but very stable and up to date, clone safe as well. stick on B16 MCC bouquets and you'll have channels in proper sly numbering etc..

the image easiest for channel hopping and using is for me the Commando 12 Neutrino, install the NeuXmlepg plugin, map the channels then do an image backup and fire that in the rest of your boxes, simple user interface for non techies, thats the feedback iv had

agreed

if they are use to 500c then whack on commando 12

works well on sat

setting up CCcam is pish with this image

the dw dream neutrino doesn't have CCcam support and doesn't scan well on 28.2E
The commando image does both of these very well https://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/index.php?threads/246093/#post1825379
Not sure what it's like on multisat but I know my brothers works very well on 28.2

pli jade is good but I think for single sat use commando has the edge.

thanks lads, I'll flash one of them when I get home next week - set up all the sats, Cccam and the EPG plugin then take a backup of the image and flash it on to all the other boxes.

i use 13e, 19e, 28.2e each 1 with a static dish with a disec switch, works great with no probs, you'll need to update the satellite xml mate and change the disec settings in Service Scan options, iv not tried it with a motorised dish yet so not sure how easy that will be to set up

finally getting round to setting these up, bit difficult when i'm so used to enigma2 these days.

What version of Cccam do I use, I see the instructions to pop Cccam into the correct folder although from googling I'm not sure which version I should use as the downloads I've found all seem to be for engima.

Any ideas?

Also a good neutrino compatible S*y UK bouquet would be handy :)

think I got cccam sorted, is in blue menu anyway.

Now I'm getting 'Transponderscan failed' when trying to do a scan on for 28.2e single sat :|

sounds like a cool project mate

will be subscribing to this thread to see how it goes :)

let us know

Been having a nightmare tonight trying to get it configured. Think I've narrowed the problem down to using the 'Restore' menu to flash the new Commando image rather than using dreamup and a null modem cable - certain aspects of the flash may not be over-written completely this way when moving to an entirely different base image.

I've just ordered another null modem from ebay as I can't find my last one, displaced it in my mother in laws. Getting ridiculously difficult these days just to find a serial port on the back of a PC which supports a null modem. I've about five computers at home altogether and not one of them has a serial port, have to go the in laws to use hers.

heres a copy of my bouquets & services for commando m8y, includes sports on 19 & 13e, might not be exactly wot your looking for but it will get you going, iv also added the cccam file its 2.1.4 but it still shows on dm500 as 2.0.11, goes in var/bin/emu

Recently built myself a new PC last month based on a AMD Phenom 2 CPU, Went for a MSI 870A-G54 motherboard, and as well USB 3, SATA 6, Dual AGP for crossfire...it also has a Serial Port.... Your right it's a rare thing to find a serial port on any PC manufactured in the last 5 years.

USB to Serial adaptors are flaky with DreamUP and flashing boxes...thats about the only other option there is..other than maybe adding a PCI card with serial ports.

try flashing the image via telnet see my post here

hi

as thebigman says use telnet to flash you can also back your working image
up with telnet remember to rename the image to backup.img when flashing

look in cable section to sticky (500c)telnet for the tut

hi

here's a telnet tut with pictures remember to rename image to backup.img

hope this may help

Ok I've got a major issue.

Every time I flash the commando image fully to the box I am no longer able to FTP properly to the box, when I log in using 'root' and 'commando' it brings me to an empty FTP folder, the only curious way I can see files is FTPing using internet explorer. I've tried two different FTP clients and both bring me to an empty folder in the dreambox.

Any ideas?

I've fllashed using both the telnet method and the onscreen software update method and both do the same thing, I haven't tried my null modem cable yet.

See the screen dump, tried filezilla, windows explorer and even Dreamweaver FTP client and all show the root folder as empty, despite the fact that if I browse through Internet Explorer it lists the full folder contents.

I've tried this on 4 different DM500s now, all led to same result. Using Commando v14 image.

Figured it out, it automatically brings you into empty root folder, you need to go one folder up to get to the 'ACTUAL' root of the box, which you can't do on Windows Explorer. This has cost me about 3 hours *doh*

Now need to figure out how to get CCcam running. I installed it in var/bin/emu in a folder called CCcam, it is showing under the blue button and is turned on, I've put my CCcam.cfg file in var/etc and still nothing working.

I installed v2.2.0, is this the issue?
