AV-Comparatives is an Austrian Non-Profit-Organization, which is providing independent Anti-Virus software tests free to the public. They have been testing anti-virus programs for over a decade, and publish reports every 3-4 months. Unlike other websites and magazines they don't get paid to favour one program over another. All the anti virus software had been included at the request of the software publishers, AV-Comparatives do not approach the software publishers.

These results are based on August 2010 tests.

iv just installed avast yesterday after updating my avg free to the 2011 and found i dont like it at all, but avast does well in these tests so im happy to stick with it for now!

cheers

Happy with Microsoft Security Essentials at the moment - lower on resources than AVG free which I was using prior.

I've seen AVIRA mentioned several times on DW, yet always forget the name when getting to the point at which I install the AV solution (so end up installing MSE for quickness).

Was using kaspersky, but keys are a nightmare to get. Now use bitdefender, and it works nicely. So I will stick with that.

I'm think I'm on a good median with Avira then.

I switched to Avira a bit ago because it found stuff AVG let though. Avira also made my speedtest.net scores rocket to 480meg download, so that looked goot. :)

If you are on the free version mate, there is a really simple registry edit to get rid of that daily pop up advert... Just google for it. If you can't find it I can see if can find it again for you... is the icing on the cake...

I used Avivra to, nice programme except for the nag screen, though did seem a bit slow when scanning

I now use MS essentials after having to reformat

I always pay for my antivirus m8, too paranoid to used cracked version (if they can crack them they can hack a virus into them) and prefer the full versions over the free ones.

I using Norton 2010 now as it was £22 from amazon for a physical disk and 3 licences. It was top recommendation from the AV-comparables last December.

Must admit I was a bit apprehensive at first as Norton is normally resource hungry and slow, but this version is fantastic.

Got to admit I got Norton 2010 on my Laptop too, Havent really used it much but it does seem faster than previous versions I have tried but I bet my laptop configuration has a lot to do with this lol
