CI Slots on TV

What is the point?

I understand when Freeview first came out they introduced Top-Up TV which required a card, but why are they still making them.

Does anyone actually use them or is it just a cheap gimmick to offer more inputs?

the slot is required for anyone wanting to subscribe to espn cam comes in slot card in cam

Aye, just there for ESPN and UKTV GOLD etc... Bit over the top just for them and a couple of softcore porn channels, but I heard Sky has been ordered make Sky Sports channels available on Freeview, and I guess other channels maybe available down the line.

Some of the TV's have cable tuners in them so you could get a cable CAM - in theory...

I believe CAM are used in other parts of europe as well which is why they are designed into the set.

Well Top-Up TV is still going and requires a card as well as ESPN, so it makes perfect sense to have a CAM slot.

I don't understand the rant tbh.

I was pleased to get a ci slot in mine - with my trusty dragon cam and a tune I can see a nice variety of HD channels coutesy of VM!!

Really? I sold my DragonCam last year but didn't realise you could use it in your TV!

Is there a specific file you need?

I just made some changes to one of the predator files to add the new provider and keys etc. If you need a file let me know you area etc by pm and i can email it over - not going to last for much longer though!!

I think it's mainly Sony
