Hi

I have just purchased a brand new 360 Elite, from Asda, as I had problems (posted on here) with my previous 360.

Anyway, I got it home and opened it, and noticed there was no microsoft silver security sticker as normal.

The manufacturing date is - 13 September 2009, but the drive inside is a Liteon with a December 2008 date.

Is this normal? Or has this been opened previously etc, and need returning to Asda?

Obviously if it is ok, I will keep it as it doesn't have one of the new unflashable drives.

But I don't want it if someone else has opened and returned it, as not sure then what the problem could be with it.

Do ALL 360s have the MS sticker?

And drive is nearly 1 year old?

Advice appreciated!

Hi

Dont worry - I got the answer.

I just tried a burned game, and it worked!

B****! its going back

Lol

i wonder hopw many xbox repair consoles come back flashed lol

ide write to the paper on this one mate.. make some money out of it

Maybe MS are supplying them pre-modded to save us time :)

can see the headline now:

"ASDA: Now stocking modifed consoles"

I bet someone returned it saying it was bought by mistake/unwanted item etc etc, but in reality, have been banned, I bet you cant connect to xbox live on it

Thats my guess, thats why asda sold it again as it was returned with that reason, and not a faulty reason

Hi

Just an update. Been back to Asda (24 hour luckily) They swapped it no problem. To be honest, even though I was trying to explain it looked tampered with, they didn't really listen.

Obviously I wasn't going to say I had opened it, but just wanted them to know not to sell it on!

I posted this on another forum as well, and they said the same as here - that it shouldn't have been sold again, when obviously opened.

Anyway got an new sealed one so fingers crossed!

@mesipax - it wasn't me but this has gave me a great idea. Just purchase a Elite from ASDA, swap innards, remove the warranty sticker and take back later that day saying, when I tried to connect on-line it says it cannot and is banned???? Suggesting it's been tampered with.

But still probably going wait a couple of weeks for the ban wave and media hype to die down.

Just going to play on my old trusty banned premium, at least then I can transfer all my saves form the 20gb to the new 120gb drive.

Good plan Dave Can you do that then, transfer saves from one hd to another?

And if you did swap hard drives, does that increase the chance of a ban?

(not played live, but would maybe like the option to do so at some point).

i've had 3 elites returned and kept the hard drives, heasdsets, 1 controller and HD leads (from each one) every time... took them to gamestation and got £60.00 credit for each HD...result---xbox cost me fook all in the end..

I know you can transfer from 20->120 via the free transfer kit.

£60 credit for an elite drive, how long ago was that?
