I've ordered a R4DSi, does anyone know if this card is getting blocked like the AceKard?

Is it new, cant you take it back and swap it for another? As I understand, you will probably need a dsi that can use the card to write to the card, so if someone has a dsi not upgraded then they could upgrade the card for you, if and whenever it comes out. I think

Bought today in ASDA. If I do that then I'll just get another machine that wants an upgrade aswell

well not 100% whats going to happen but acekard 2i's are upgradable (the kernal built into the flash cart itself), however R4I/DSTTI/others as far as advertising says, they arnt upgradable, so not sure where u all stand for that but i have warned you all about it when they first got released

I don't follow you mate, I just checked and according to the R4i DSi specification they are upgradeable.

hmm, well r4's are basically the same as the dstt clones and the dstti doesnt allow upgrades, maybe they are wording that towards the software you download to put onto the microsd, or maybe i am wrong!

R4DS have kernal updates on their website mate.

I've updated the kernal on my R4DS a few times in the past.

Do you mean that it's only the R4i version that can't be upgraded? (though as posted they claim it can).

No mate.

Last time I did it, I loaded a file onto the SD card then ran the application which wrote to the kernal of the R4 card. The Kernal revision was updated.

when u say do not upgrade to it i have cards in my sons and nepthews that they play and now wont` load cos of this but they didn`t upgrade ? wi-fi was enabled ? does this upgrade on its own ??

Not sure but there has been a fix out for ages now m8. (It was quite an old post ) You need an original ds or a dsi pre 1.4 to run the fix on the cartridge, and then it should work fine with 1.4.
