Hi, just bought tv with cable tuner can this be used on uk cable, I know it can on German, Swedish, Finnish and Danish. Hooked it up but not received any channels, any special settings. Thanks in advance.

My Sony can do DVB-T or DVB-C. I got it to tune by using the following settings:
Scan Type = Quick Scan
Frequency = 739 MHz
Network ID = 0
Symbol Rate = 6.887 Msym/s
Service Type = All Services

I didnt know the cable side worked in the uk - and I sell em lol - can anyone else confirm that this works at all?

Hi postman pat, thanks for reply, I am in Ex C&W, where are you, Pure?

Mines a KDL-32S3000. You get to select what type of input your using when you tune, either antenna or cable. Obviously you have to change some of the settings as UK cable doesn't stick to all the DVB-C standards.

It works well but it's a pain shuffling the channels around. Plus last time I checked the C5 channels are encrypted. So the missus can't get to watch CSI:

As far as I can remember I'm in a Pure region

Hi, please can you share what you did to get up and running?

I also believe these tv's have a cam slot so you can use a cam/card to decode the sub channles.

Maybe you should donate one to us cable mods for "testing" and "development" purposes (of course) :proud:

maybe I should consider a ban ;)

not banned anyone yet - first time for everything

According to a post I read a while back the dvbc compliant sony TVs work fine with a cam to decrypt all channels...

Dont try it though, theft of service is illegal :(

does anyone have any idea what cam you use with this television , will any cam that supports nagravision work ?

Hi
I did as postman pat suggested and it works.
But now I need to know what cam will work, I have tried about 6 different cams that i've had
kicking around for years they were for sat use, and none of them work
has anyone found a cam that works.
does anyone no where you can buy a cam.

i've seen a suggestion that dragon cam or diablo cam will work but at£70 each i'll let someone else confirm it first lol . you can buy these on ebay. what cams have you tried so far ?

I imagine that most of the Nagra compatible cams will work ok as long as they process the Emm stream as well as the ECM stream. I doubt that the firmware versions that contain softcams (ie cardless) will work properly though as I suspect they wont AU.

I tried using my T-Rex (Dragon) CAM. But it seemed like the TV only saw the CAM intermittently. I did think about getting a Nagravision CAM but never got round to it.

surely the cam slot must be there to decrypt the channels , why would they put a cable tuner in that scans all the channels if you cant decrypt them ? when i go to a premium channel like sky sports then i get a chequerd flag at the top of my screen indicating that the channel needs un scrammblin. what card did you use in your dragon cam and did you use a real ird and bk or did you use 00000 as your ird ?
